FREEPORT ROTARY SPONSORS 17th ANNUAL ROAD RACE

Freeport, Maine, May 15, 2012  – The Freeport Rotary Club is sponsoring its 17th Annual Close to the Coast 5K and 10K Road Races. The races will take place on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Winslow Park in Freeport, Maine.   

The race is part of the Winslow Park Family Fun Day, a great time for families with all the events and park admission free of charge.  The events start with a Kids’ 1K Fun Run at 10 am with prizes for kids provided by Wilbur’s of Maine.  Additional, there is free admission to the Winslow Park for the day.  Hotdogs, ice cream, games, swimming, activities, playground and a moon bounce house will be available.

Come join us this Saturday, May 12th, at Mama's Crowbar in Portland.  Allagash, Maine Beer Co., Rising Tide collaboration release. Prince Tuesday.  4-9pm.  Other nice beers on draft from the trio as well.  Great food will be sold by Local Sprouts (cookout style- for $10 you get burgers, kielbasa, potato salad, cole slaw and apple crisp).  We will all be there to visit.

Lines Together Make True Beauty

Architecture is a really beautiful thing. I know there may be a more eloquent way to phrase that but I feel as though it is just that simple. Before I even begin to visualize the finished process, I just sit and admire the lines, thinking in slow motion about all the magnificent things they are going to become. A living room where one sits and plays with their children. A study where a life altering memoir is written. A simple fire-place for comfort where many will gather. And honestly, it’s something that I still don’t quite understand fully. How does one individual, sit and realize a finished project like a skyscraper? I asked this question to the architect who conceptualized and drew the project we are currently working on and he did not have an answer. I’m sure it has to be this organic thing that happens magically on its own, but how, did he sit down and even wrap his mind around the type of home he put together for these clients?
