National Feral Cat Day, Oct. 15, is making up a group of events netting Maine’s Friends of Feral Felines (FoFF) a national Trailblazer Award with a $500 donation.

Alley Cat Allies honored FoFF is the first organization to create a Feral Cat Day event in Maine.  Alley Cat Allies started National Feral Cat Day in 2010 to promote greater recognition of the plight of feral cats. They were also the first organization to introduce and advocate for humane methods of feral cat care, particularly Trap-Neuter-Return, in the American animal protection community.

This is Hemi. He went missing from our yard in New gloucester on July 13 at 11:30am. All within 3-5 minutes. This dog is a male, neutered 2 1/2 years old, well behaved and very friendly. If you know where he is or have seen him or a dog looking like him please call Shane at 749-4415.

A DAY OF FUN AND LEARNING FOR CHILDREN, PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS

This saturday, June 11, the Falmouth Historical Society will be opening its museum at 60 Woods Road in Falmouth for the 2011 season. The opening program is focused on Sustainable Living (reducing our use of the earth’s natural resources) and will include a fun filled and learning experience day of sheep shearing, Alpaca petting, wool spinning, herb gardening and special displays of 1800’s cooking utensils, period glassware and Baker’s Chocolate memorabilia. Baked goods and herb plants will also be for sale. Visit the gift shop for history books, cook books, maps, coverlets and other Falmouth items.

Rabies Clinic - Standish

A Rabies Clinic will be held on Monday, April 25th from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at the Sebago Lake Congregational Church, located at 410 Northeast Road in Sebago Lake Village.  The cost is $8.00 per pet, cash only - checks will not be accepted.  Please bring previous rabies certificate - cats in carriers and dogs on leashes.    For more information, contact Betty Field - 642-4343 or 642-2464 or Jack Frietas at 642-4343.
