Powderhouse Hill Announces Free Learn to Ski Event

100 children to receive a free ski lesson from Shawnee Peak

The Friend’s of Powderhouse Hill Ski Area are excited to announce the return of Shawnee Peak Ski School to Powderhouse Hill.  The two groups will be hosting a night of free equipment use and learn to ski or ride lessons at Powderhouse Hill Friday March 4th from 5-9pm.

The event was publicized at local schools.  “We have just over 100 spots to fill and expect to hit full capacity before the event.  It’s a good thing…I just wish we could accommodate every child who wants to participate…we’re taking the positive response as a sign there’s high demand for ski lessons and rental equipment on The Seacoast.  We get a lot of requests for rentals throughout the year but we just don’t have the space or bandwidth to provide the service”…said Friend’s President Josh Allen.

7th Annual Four Square World Championships on Saturday, February 26

Tom Stockwell of Bridgton will try to continue what competitors call “his reign of terror” as the Senior Men’s Champion at the 7th Annual Four Square World Championships on Saturday, February 26, 2010, at the Bridgton Academy Gym.
The Lakes Environmental Association hosts the championship, which starts at 5 p.m. and attracts competitors from many states and Canada. The event is open to the public. LEA collects a $10 registration fee from competitors to support lake protection. Spectators attend free.
Stockwell has won six titles in the past six years. He won the Men’s Division in his first year and has been champion five times in the Senior Men’s Division. He said he always enjoyed playing four square, particularly with his children at the beach.
