WINDHAM, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- School lunches in Windham are anything but boring, unhealthy, and overly processed.
That's in large part to the efforts from Guiding Stars expert chef Erin Dow and Jeanne Reilly, Director of Nutrition for Windham. Chef Dow and Reilly have worked together to create a menu that's focused on local food that's helped save the school budget money.
Chef Dow's latest endeavor is preparing for the first-ever nationwide Food Revolution Day at Westbrook Community Center on Saturday, May 19.
In the Morning Report kitchen, Chef Dow made Texas Caviar and Kid Crunch Trail Mix. If you'd like Chef Dow to visit your school, click on the link to her website.
The first 25 people to sign up for the Guiding Stars web seminar "School Nutrition: Feeding the Next Generation" will win an insulated Guiding Stars lunch bag. The web seminar is Tuesday, June 19, at 2pm.
