Maine Maple Sunday Celebration in Poland

Maine Maple Sunday Celebration in Poland

A sure sign of spring is the coming of Maine Maple Sunday, celebrated annually on the fourth Sunday in March. This year it falls on Sunday, March 27th.

One of the more eventful local Maple Sunday celebrations is held annually at the Megquier Hill Farm at 260 Megquier Hill Road in Poland. The farm is the home of Peter and Kathie Bolduc and their 4 children. Nestled in the lower back field of this historic 1791 farmstead is their maple sugar house. Each year they welcome the public to come and experience the delight of the sap boiling down into its most perfect state: pure maple syrup.

Their celebration starts at 9am and runs until about 3pm. Visitors are treated to a hay wagon ride down to the sugarhouse.

A week of wish granting for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine

PORTLAND, ME – March 14, 2011 – It will be a week of wish granting for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine as they work to grant wishes to three local children between March 22 - 29.

“It isn’t only one day these kids see their wish come true,” said Kate Vickery, program director at the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine. “It’s the build up of excitement and magic that stretches on to create lasting memories for these deserving kids.”

On March 19, Lucien, 6, of Gorham will have a party at Longhorn Steakhouse in South Portland to celebrate with friends and family the granting of his wish: To meet characters from Walt Disney’s Toy Story. Lucien and his family will leave for Walt Disney World® days later, where he’ll meet the official Toy Story characters.
