Gorham is proud to be celebrating the 275th anniversary of it's founding.  The entire weekend will be full of fun, rides, and history tours to take us back to our roots.  The events will take place at the Narragansett school on Main St. Memorial Day weekend, May 27- 30. 

The amusement rides open at 4:00 pm Friday evening along witth music by Fiddle Jam and the Don Roy Trio.  The founders festival officially kicks off at 9:00 am Saturday with an opening ceremony were a descendent of Gorham's first settler, John Phinney will be recognized as the festival's honoree.  Capt.

The members of the Falmouth Historical Society will be sprucing up the Heritage Museum in anticipation of our Grand Opening on June 11 for the 2011 season. We welcome anyone who can help us make the museum and it's grounds 'pristine'!  Besides free food, you'll be in the company of a great bunch of working board members who enjoy fun as they focus on providing the Falmouth Community with a valuable resource!

Pancake Breakfast - Naples

Lake Region High School Lacrosse team will host its 3rd Annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, May 21, from 7:00am to 11:00am at Songo Locks Elementary School in Naples.  On the menu you'll find pancakes, bacon, fruit, juice, milk and coffee.  The cost is $5.00 a person and $20.00 for a family.  Tickets are available from team members and at Hayes True Value Hardware in Bridgton. Bring a few extra dollars and bid on some wonderful silent auction items including a handcrafted wooden deck cooler, photography gift certificate and furnace cleaning service.  For more information call 207-647-9540

 Mustaches in May to raise money for the Maine Children’s Cancer Program

An all star lineup of Sea Dogs players are growing Mustaches in May to raise money for the Maine Children’s Cancer Program.  Dr. Lou Jacobs, a Portland Chiropractor, gained national recognition as the founder of Mystache Fights Cancer, a cancer fighting fund raising event for local organizations. He is also the director of the New England Bureau of the American Mustache Institute.  Dr. Jacobs says "The mustache revival in the state of Maine has never been stronger and there’s never been a better time to use your ‘stache for a good cause."   The doctor will be throwing the first pitch at the Sea Dogs game and showing his support for the players at 1pm on Sunday May 29, 2011 against rivals the Trenton Thunder (Yankees).

Sea Dog players are taking pledges and a $15.00 donation gets you a free ticket and a family donation of $50.00 gets you five tickets and a picture with your favorite player.

Special Olympics Cumberland County - Track and Field Day

Special Olympics of Cumberland County held a Track and Field event at the Windham High School track today.  Over 400 athletes participated including my daughter Anna.  This was her first large Special Olympics event and she had a wonderful time.  Windham Primary School allowed many of their students to attend for the Parade of Athletes and a few of the events so my other daughter, Jane got to see her sister, Anna in the parade!  Anna's events were the Softball Throw, The Standing Long Jump and the 25 meter walk.  She really enjoyed each event but I think the event she enjoyed the most was the Softball Throw.  It was also very sweet to see that the children from Anna's class had showed up with banners that they made for her and for another athlete from their class.  They cheered and cheered when either of them had an event!  It is heartwarming to know that the Windham Primary School has done their best to be inclusive and accepting of my daught
