A 2-hour workshop designed for parents and professionals

So often the process of separation and divorce is clogged with guilt, fault, blame, resentment or rage. Exploring forgiveness, what it is and what it is not, can often clear the path to heal ourselves and our children from these harmful emotions.

Facilitated by Tricia Weyand, LCPC, this workshop will provide a practical look at the why and how of letting go, for family members touched by the effects of divorce as well as any adult looking for tools for various relationships in their lives. "Nothing inspires me more than working with people to confront and gain deeper understanding of the conflicts that at times affect their lives. I believe that through education, structure and compassion, change is both possible and likely.

The Opportunity Alliance is offering a seven week parenting class this winter! This series is for parents with children ages 12-20 and focuses on adolescent development and behavior, communication and problem solving, topics of concern, and strengthening the parent teen relationship.

Miss Maine’s Outstanding Teen Program Now Accepting Registrations

The Miss Maine’s Outstanding Teen Program is accepting applications for “At Large” Contestants to compete in the Miss Maine’s Outstanding Teen pageant in mid-June at Crooker Theater at Brunswick High School in Brunswick.  The Miss Maine’s Outstanding Teen Pageant is the official state preliminary to the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant held each August in Florida.

All contestants, aged 13-17 and not a high school senior,  will compete in the following phases of competition: interview, scholastic achievement, talent, evening gown, and physical fitness.  Contestants need to choose a platform of their choice to promote awareness within their community.   All the necessary elements Miss Maine’s Outstanding Teen contestants execute will help develop life-long skills, which will make them great leaders of tomorrow.
