WINDHAM. On Sunday August 19, hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts will come together for the
4th annual Reins of Hope Charity Ride to benefit Riding To The Top Therapeutic Riding Center (“RTT”).
The event was founded by and is organized by Custom Hawg of Scarborough, Maine. Tammy Jones, owner of Custom Hawg notes that “We are very excited to host this annual event again this year. It always attracts a variety of motorcycle riders and supporters from across Maine and New England – Riders tell me it is one of their favorites!”. This year’s goal is to best the $10K they raised last year. In addition to a full day of bike riding throughout Southern Maine, riders enjoy great food, live music, cash prizes, and a silent auction at the final stop of the day. Executive Director of RTT, Sarah Bronson states that "The Reins of Hope riders are wonderful! They join together for at event to help improve the lives of people with disabilities. It is especially great when they stop at the farm as part of the ride…here they have a chance to appreciate another type of horsepower!”.
Registration starts at 9:30 am, August 19th, at Jimmy The Greeks at the Maine Mall in South Portland, and riders follow a route traveling to the RTT farm at 14 Lilac Drive in Windham for tours and horseback riding demonstrations. The riders then continue on with stops at the Iron Tails Saloon in Acton and the Maine Street Bar and Grill in Standish. Riders finish at the Stockhouse Restaurant in Westbrook Maine at 4:00 pm. The suggested donation is $20.00 per rider and $10.00 per passenger. Riders are encouraged to raise money from friends, family and co-workers before the ride in support of RTT. Participants can use an online giving program at razoo.com/team/Reins-Of-Hope-Charity-Motorcycle-Ride, or by seeking donations and sponsorships face to face. Prizes are awarded to the top fundraisers. All proceeds benefit RTT’s therapeutic riding programs serving children and adults with disabilities.

About Riding to the Top
Founded in 1993, Riding To The Top Therapeutic Riding Center (RTT) helps people with disabilities reach their highest potential through the healing power of horses. Just outside of Portland in Windham, the center is located on a 50 acre farm and is the only year round program solely dedicated to therapeutic riding in Maine. Over 250 clients visit annually and are assisted by 11 horses, 10 certified instructors and over 60 volunteers, all specially trained to assist with therapeutic riding and hippotherapy. Riding To The Top is a community based nonprofit and provides scholarships to over 60% of its clients. RTT is a Premier Accredited Center by PATH, Intl.
