The best of Maine from across the creative spectrum will be gathered together at the 10th annual show on the Rockland waterfront, August 10-12, 2012. Beautiful boats, unique handcrafted products, and an eclectic mix of high-quality goods for life on the water and the shore will again be on display at Maine’s only in-the-water boat show and coastal lifestyle event.

FREEPORT ROTARY SPONSORS 17th ANNUAL ROAD RACE

Freeport, Maine, May 15, 2012  – The Freeport Rotary Club is sponsoring its 17th Annual Close to the Coast 5K and 10K Road Races. The races will take place on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Winslow Park in Freeport, Maine.   

The race is part of the Winslow Park Family Fun Day, a great time for families with all the events and park admission free of charge.  The events start with a Kids’ 1K Fun Run at 10 am with prizes for kids provided by Wilbur’s of Maine.  Additional, there is free admission to the Winslow Park for the day.  Hotdogs, ice cream, games, swimming, activities, playground and a moon bounce house will be available.

The 80th Anniversary Season at the Ogunquit Playhouse kicks off with Always, Patsy Cline, on stage from May 23 through June 16. This show is told through the letters of star-struck fan Louise Seger, portrayed by Emmy Award winning actress, Sally Struthers. This popular musical, which has enjoyed great success both off-Broadway and across the nation, is based on the true story of Cline’s friendship with Seger, who befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in l961 and continued a correspondence with Cline until her death. Featuring the unforgettable hits of the Country Music mega-star, this funny and touching tribute celebrates the career and life of the singer who died tragically in a plane crash in 1963.

National Charter Schools Week – Maine has joined the movement

In 2011, Maine joined 40 other states in allowing public charter school options for families of all income levels.  On May 1, 2012, the Maine Charter School Commission issued its first application package for potential founders of these new public education options, which are free to parents and open to all children without admissions tests.

          The Maine Association for Charter Schools (MACS) will celebrate the great work accomplished by public charter schools across the country, where over 5,000 public chartered schools are serving 1.8 million students.

Come join us this Saturday, May 12th, at Mama's Crowbar in Portland.  Allagash, Maine Beer Co., Rising Tide collaboration release. Prince Tuesday.  4-9pm.  Other nice beers on draft from the trio as well.  Great food will be sold by Local Sprouts (cookout style- for $10 you get burgers, kielbasa, potato salad, cole slaw and apple crisp).  We will all be there to visit.

Causeway Worker Appreciation Luncheon

Friday, April 27, 2012:Innkeeper-Chef  Keith A. Neubert will be welcoming the 30 or so men and women who are working on the almost-finished Naples Causeway Revitalization to his warm dining room at The Inn at Long Lake as a show of appreciation for their hard work in transforming the Causeway area of Naples. The anticipated unveiling date of the project is May 19, 2012. The luncheon commences at noon while the workers are on their daily lunch break. Chef Neubert has asked a friend, Chef Patrick Brideau, former Head Baker/Executive Chef at Phillips Exeter Academy, with whom he worked in the mid-nineties as Lead Dinner Chef. Both Chefs have envisioned a meal composed of “hearty Yankee comfort food” perfect and warming for a breezy Spring afternoon onLong Lake.  For further information about the Appreciation Luncheon, contact Innkeeper-Chef Keith A. 2nd Annual Ladies Day Out Expo
