Known as the Evel Knievel of dance, and the originator of "Pop Action" choreography, Elizabeth Streb has been on fire... literally. Her award-winning work incorporates radical moves inspired by boxing, the rodeo, and Hollywood stunt-work with names like skudges, X-flips, sparkles, body slams and suicide dives. Her dancers, STREB Extreme Action Company, are the action heroes of dance and bring to Portland a heart-stopping performance that is sure to amaze the whole family.

Elizabeth Streb's choreography embodies values that appear throughout the history of 20th century dance and performance. Paul Sarvis, Senior Lecturer in Dance Performance at Bowdoin College, shows video clips and discusses the work of other artists who have likewise staged extravagant displays of risk and effort and wrestled with the tension between vulnerability and mastery.
