Bill Bags a Buck!

Most of us have heard lots of gun shots this past month.  One of them was fired by Bill Green who downed this 9-point, 191 pound buck while hunting in Gray.  Bill, who lives in Cumberland, has had a very successful year afield.  He also bagged an enormous turkey in the spring. It was the fifth largest turkey taken in Maine this year.
Bill says his family will still be eating a Butterball on Thanksgiving Day, but is planning to have some venison for his son and nephew who are coming to his house from respective colleges on Wednesday night. The three hunted together this spring and hope to get a few hours in the field over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Families hunting together on Thanksgiving is the reason that the traditional deer hunting season always ends the Saturday after Thanksgiving in Maine.  The season lasts for four weeks, with the first Saturday reserved for residents only.
